Di kala kesunyian takde keje duduk rumah besar, katil besar dapur pon besar, aku pegi ke peti sejuk melihat ayam seketul tak dipotong masih tercegat di penjuru freezer. Kesian da 2 minggu ayam tu tak di masak. Menggunakan expert semula jadi memasak ayam, aku defrost ayam tu dikala malam menjelma, arakian, aku masuk tdo. Bajet nk masak ayam tu tgh hari, last2 terbangun tdo pukul 3.30 petang. dannnngg!! Campur kari, bbq sos, madu lebah, garam, black pepper, ntah ape lagi aku letak aku pon tak igt, aku blender pastu gaul ngn ayam tadi tu ye puan2. Syahadan, aku membiarkan ayam itu di peti sejuk seberapa minit di kala menunggu oven panas higga ke 450 darjah fahrenheit. Kemudian memanggang ayam terbabit ke dalam oven itu ye puan2 selama 50 minit. ( sebenonye aku lupe bape minit)

Aku beredar dari situ dan menonton Burn notice di hulu.com sebanyak 2 episod tidak sedar ayam sudah masak dan oven tersebut telah meberi amaran (beep beep beep), tetapi tidak kesedaran pula kerana memasang subwoofer yang kuat. Dengan tidak semena-mena, ayam yang molek itu pon ter"burned' seperti gambar yang berikut.

I have a really big desire to buy an iphone. I think iphone in US is considered cheap compare to any other countries. I saw this ads on maxis plan in malaysia and click on that site. I went to the iphone plan and it was ridiculous. The cheapest package is RM100 per month and you have to pay for like almost RM2000 for that iphone plus 2 year contract. That means in 2 years time you have to pay (24 x 100) + RM1900 for the phone! Count it your self. Not to mention if you spent more data transfer + extra minutes + sms. And also i looked at the prepaid plan with no contract. This plan does not have any contract but you have to pay the iphone with a full price which if i'm not mistaken is almost RM 2500. Here in US 2 year contract for new iphone 3G is just $99.00 for 8 gb and $129.99 for 16 gb. The new iphone 3G S (S stands for speed) is $199 for 16 gb and &299 for 32 gb (new). The new iphone 3 GS comes in two colors white and black. But the bad news you have to pay $69 dollar + tax for one individual monthly. You pay less if you have family plan. The good thing is that the data transfer for internet mobile and 3G usage is unlimited so you can download or do whatever you want. Plus, the internet is so damn fast compare to malaysian network. Not to mention the streamyx TMnet which is hell slow that give you only 1 Mb bandwith + RM88 per month.

I hope i can get my iphone soon and hoping that my housemate will send his iphone 3G to me or otherwise i have to sign up for a new contract for iphone 3G S.

In about 2 weeks from now, i will be presenting my research project that i have been working on since the 1st of june of 2009. So basically, I have to work 20 hours a week with a wage of 10 dollar per hour. I got a grant from MERCK (google it) and for 10 weeks i will obtain approximately $2000 dollars for that research. I'm still working on my research and planning to do a poster during the symposium meeting in August 7, 2009. The following is my abstract that i have submitted last week for the Undergraduate Summer Research Booklet.

PROTEIN EXPRESSION ANALYSIS OF THE [PSI+] and [psi-] YEAST STRAINS USING 2-D GEL ELECTROPHORESIS.

Abstract. Previously, my lab studied the differences in gene expression between a prion containing [PSI+] and non-prion containing [psi-] yeast strain using the technique of microarray analysis. More than 100 genes were found to be under and overexpressed using the microarray technique. The central dogma of molecular biology states that DNA à RNAà PROTEIN. We hypothesized that if there are differences in the gene expression between these [PSI+] and [psi‐] strains, there should also be differences in the proteins produced by these strains. Previous work done by other members of the lab suggested there were differences in proteins present when strains of [PSI+] and [psi-] were compared, but identification of the protein changes were not accomplished. In this project, I will determine whether there are significant differences in protein expression between one strain (L1763) of [PSI+] and [psi-] obtained from Dr. Susan Lindquist’s lab at MIT. Dr. Lindquist’s lab has put forth the hypothesis that [PSI+] may confer an evolutionary advantage by allowing for more variation in the species. I will compare the protein differences I find in the L1763 [psi-] strain with those found previously for the [PSI+] to see if there is diversity in these protein differences. Such diversity would support the hypothesis that [PSI+] causes “epigenetic regulation of translation” and “reveals hidden genetic variation”.

One month has past since my parent came to visit me. We were having such a great time together and travelled a lot too. I brought them to Times Square, New York on the first night and then the next day to Woodbury outlet. At rochester, I take them look around the marketplace mall, uptown, and also my campus. Then we went to niagra falls and luckily we got to see fireworks the night we went there. After one week at Rochester, we headed to washington Dc and stayed 2 days overthere. We went to see all the museums, washington monument, lincoln memorial as well as the white house. Then we headed back to new jersey and new york and spent one more day. Before leaving, I brought them to see Statue of Liberty at Liberty State Park. Here are some snapshots I got....

Planning for the future

Just finished cleaning up my apartment and room. My parents from Malaysia are coming this 30th May. I'm so happy and can't wait to pick them up at Newark airport. But the thing is i have to drive 7 hours to new york by myself, alone. I might ask someone else to come with me or otherwise it'll be so dreadful and boring.

I don't have any plan yet. The problem is that i have summer class on the 1st june. I wouldn't be able to go back in time. I'm planning to skip the first two classes and take my parents go around new york city and maybe washington DC.

Another problem is that infected people with H1N1 in new york city is about 300. I'm afraid that we could be infected by the millions of people in that city.

I'm also a little worried about my grandma. My dad told me that my grandma had a heart attack and right now she is still in the hospital. I hope everything will be ok and I hope someone will take care of her while my parents are away.

10 things you have to know about Genetic Engineering (GE)

The most bustling class I've ever taken with intense lab work.
50 minutes exam with average 5 pages short answer questions that make your hand feel like being bitten by a cobra.
3 lab reports and one of them was 40 pages long.
5 credits hours course that perhaps should be listed as 20 hours of credit.
Two 4 hours lab a week that actually took more than 4 hours. Sometimes you have to stay until 10 pm, begging the stockroom guy to wait for you. (Happened to me!!)
If you fail your experiment, you have to figure out what went wrong, repeat and make your own reagents.
Tedious work of restriction digestions and agarose gel electrophoresis. (if you know what i mean)
Make sure you have a good lab partner or otherwise you might kill yourself.
You have to always update your lab notebook. The submission is without notice. Plus you have tons of work to be written.
Bodek-bodek la Dr. Rothman tu selalu, nnt senang nk mintak recommendation letter. hahah...

Luckily, I got an A in this class and I was happy like hell. But all in all, I really missed that class, my labmates, and all the amounts of work I did. Peace!!

Sekian lame aku menunggu mencari kasut futsal yang sedap dipakai, akhirnya jumpa jua. Ni fresh nye dari UPS nye parcel. Mmg sekejap gile sampai. Baru 3 hari lapas aku order kat soccer.com dah dapat da arini. ni jugak la first time aku beli kasut online. Selama ni beli kat kedai je, yela takut2 tak muat ke, terlebar ke, termahal ke, terkecik hati ke. Kasut ni mmg agak stylo ar gak sbb ni mmg da latest design dari nike n baru kuar mid january 2009 aritu. So bajet2 baru kuar mahal la, tp bile cek not bad ar. Kalo agak2 aku kasut ni kat msia mau makan RM200-250, mmg tak mampu ar aku nk beli. Bile aku dapat kasut ni, ade siap ngn return shipping lagi takut2 customer tak muat, so leh pulang balik n pos dia bayarkan. Pastu siap dapat diskaun kad n katalog sekali. mmg mantap ar. Malas nk cite byk, so ni beberapa snapshot aku sempat amik berkenaan kasut itu.

Fall Break Trip that overall took nearly 2400 miles total that covered 3 states- California, Arizona and Nevada. We started form Los angeles then to San Francisco to Grand Canyon, Las vegas then headed back to San Diego. We all traveled by car rented from LAX airport. Then we headed back to new york by plane that took about 6 hours. Finally, dapat gak aku gi disneyland. Terase diri cam budak2 siot. kalo dapat bawak awek kan bes. Balik je dari cali abis bankrup duit aku.. next plan for this winter break have not yet been decided. One option is to follow my senior to Canada.

My dream come true. One of my biggest dreams since i was a child was to go to Disneyland. Back in the older days, my childhood years, I always begged my mom to buy me a mickey mouse book, or any Disney characters mag. And even though, the book was in English which i did not really understand, I just forced my mom to buy me one. One of the fun things to do with the book was the coloring part. I like to paint and color things cause my father was good at it and passed it down to me even though it's not a genetically inheritable. hahaha. I was addicted to mickey. I was devoted to Disney characters. and somehow eager to meet them. The only answer for this is Disneyland, though i know i can not afford to go there.

15 years later.......... Now here I am. I'm in the United States. The land of opportunity. An opportunity for me to go Disney - one of my childhood's dream. and Finally... Eventually... Ultimately.... this week, I'm going to California, the next day i finish my final exam. I bought a season pass to Disneyland park for 3 days. It should be enough to get fun. Now, I just can't wait.

As FYI, There are two Disneyland in US. One is in Los angeles which is the place i'm going to and another one is in Florida. adios.

Huh!!
Yesterday i got 2 exams - Cell physiology and Genetics. The worst part was I only have one day to study before the exam. I spent my whole weekend in a road trip to Washington DC, so I don't have time to study. Praise to God, I did OK- hoping i can get As for both exams. Back to the topic, Malaysian student department and Malaysian embassy invite us over for their annually Open house raya. There were 5 cars total from RIT that took about 7 hours driving from Rochester, new york. I was one of the drivers. Actually, there was a controversy when deciding who should go to that event. But that was another side of the story that i don't want to mention. Luckily, i was able to put myself into the 25 people who go to DC.

We departed from RIT at about 5 pm on Friday 17th October and arrived around 12.30 am. We stop twice to fill in the tank. We didn't get lost on our way - thanks to Fendi's GPS. He led our way the entire trip. Also, thanks to cik Ram Singh for letting us stay at his 4-storey house. We stayed up that night playing poker.

The next day, everybody was wasted and busted. No one wake up at time that we suppose to wake up. The embassy registration starts around 10 and finish at 11. But we managed to get there around 11.

I met my friends from other universities - penn state uni, ohio state, vanderbilt uni and many others. Some of them i haven't met for about 2 years. Good thing to meet them, dressed with our colorful baju raya. The event started with a boring speech by abg faiz and msd director and some other fellow in Malaysian ministry. After the speech everyone rushed downstairs and lined up for foods that were provided in several booths. The menu was quiet interesting - satay, nasi beriyani, lemang, kuih, teh tarik, sirap bandung ang many more. I tried everything and it was really really good.

After taking some pictures, we headed to the DC and visited the Washington monument, white house, Lincoln memorial, and all other places nearby. This was my second time here so i was not really excited as in my first visit.

The next day, we went to Annapolis, the capital of the of Maryland and also the US naval academy. The place was so beautiful expecially the boat, yacth. There were not like malaysia where all you can see is tongkang and bot kecik. I saw one of these boat that was on sale. Theprice was $300,000. Another one was like almost 1 million dollar. We were able to get into a private dock and took some pictures overthere. The scenery was amazing along
and the boats were just nice and luxuriuos.

I was busy moving in to my new apartment and don't have enough time to update. Quarter system make it worst. Lots of exams and homework so all i have to do was study study study. For the past one month, this is it. Not much to do when you're fasting during Ramadhan. But I did play soccer for intramural every weekend and that was so tiring. I sent my photos for raya dedication to Berita Harian and Utusab and it already showed up on the eve of Eid Mubarak. This is the link to my photo.

Trip to Redang Island

A summer means a holiday. This is the time to spend my dollar to buy things in ringgit which is nearly 3.2 times higher. Redang Island was the target for this year's summer. A group of 9 people who came from 3 different American universities gathered in KL before departed to Kuala Terengganu. This 3 days and 2 nights package cost about RM330 including round trip bus coach from KL. This was the cheapest package we got. What would you expect from it? I was just hoping that at least the chalet has a fan.

We were transfered to Mozanna Chalet by a big boat as we arrived by ferry. Most people in the ferry came from mainland china. I think there's none local people other than us. And most of them stay at the laguna beach resort that i would say quiet luxurious. Looking at our chalet, there were like only 10 rooms available or maybe less. Hahaha. Very isolated. Luckily there was a fan and an AIRCOND. But here's the worst part. The chalet person said that they will cut the electricity from 2-6 pm everyday and a few hours in the morning. Holy shit. Sucks place plus sucks service.

The beach was not really beautiful than that in the laguna beach. Luckily, we found out that we can swim at laguna beach that takes about 20 minutes walk. When i was in Tioman island last year, some of the beaches are private and we were not allowed to use their territory. But in Redang, the beach are opened to all.

The package includes 2 times snorkeling and 5 meals. The best part was the snorkeling. We snorkeled at two different places. One was at the marine park and another one was at the coral island. The marine park was bigger than Tioman and has a lot more fishes.

For those of you who want to go to this island, i suggest that you go to other chalet rather than the chalet i mentioned above. Plan your vacation carefully, look at the map and the pictures, read the reviews, and do not always find the cheapest one. Sometimes it is not worth it.

I planned to buy it on fall but i'm afraid it'll be discontinued. This was the third guitar i bought in the US. The retail price was $800+ and i got it half the price. The sound was quite amazing. I'm not an expert person but the sound compared to my first act guitar was a huge different. Plug in to my cheap amp made my amp sounds expensive.

The other guitar is my lovely purple ibanez AEF acoustic electric. The sound on this guitar also was good if i plug in to amp. Unplug, the sound was a bit slow. But,overall the frets are smooth and i love it. This guitar i bought from ebay around $200. retail price was $350.

This coming Fall, I plan to buy a new amp and effects pedal. Maybe a used Marshall or the Roland cube amp.

Hoi,
I'm here again, wasting my 2nd summer holiday in my hometown. It's been a while since the last time i posted a blog. I just updated this blog and installed a new template on it. I tried to use the new xml template but i don't know how to install it. I read the help forum but still couldn't' figure out how to do it.
3 more weeks left before i depart home to my place of studies in Rochester, New York. So far, 2 years of my studies here, i would describe this town as a no-fun place. The students in my college also seems to be arrogant.
The best things i like about the States were the internet speed (nearly 10 mbps), Cheap electronics stuff (esp ipod, computer stc), ebay, guitar and credit card. Hahahaha
Well, That's all for now. I wanna go to sleep. ngantok nk mampos ni.

Now, it's winter quarter. It's been 2 years i'm in RIT. I need to make up something that could strengthen my memories. I always forget things. I screwed up last quarter and really upset that i got B for my Cell Bio class. I really really thought that i could get and A in that class but my final exam score wasn't helpful. I really need some changes in myself and get myself organized like when i was in my high school years. Let's see if i could do it this quarter. 0_0

Yo!!! I'm writing this post at exactly 2 weeks before i go back to my place of study, Rochester. I feel like i just arrived yesterday. Time passes by really really damn fast and i don't feel like going back to the states. I wanna stay here longer.. Argghhh but i can't..

But well, it's just an introduction. I don't wanna talk about this kinda sad feeling that stumbled myself lately. What i wanna post here is the enjoyment, unforgettable, and precious moments that i went through with my dearest. I went to kl for one week just for her and my mom was kinda suspicious why i wanna stay there longer than before.. Fortunately, i have a good answer for that, saying that i wanna buy jerseys for Malaysians RIT and meet my old friends. *sigh*

I stayed at my old buddy's house which is in shah alam. But it wasn't a very good idea to stay there cause u know, i have to 'patah balik' from shah alam-kl everyday. It doesn't matter. I don't care how much money i spend. My goal was to see my dearest. It has been one year i left her alone and i was desperate to see her. The temptation was building inside..

For the whole one week, i met her everyday and plus i have a car and that made us easy to go anywhere. Aaaa.. before i forget, another big reason i wanna meet her was to celebrate my 20th birthday... together.. for the first time..

We went to so many places and sometimes we get lost. huhu. All in all, i just wanna say that we were really really having a great time and i miss it so much... :)

Book I just finished reading.

This is the book i just finished reading. I took quite a long time reading about 400+ pages. I bought this book when i was waiting for my flight from Newark, New york to KLIA. I read about 1/4 on board and then when i arrived i skipped reading it about 2 weeks.. huhu.. This book is quite interesting. It's a brand new book and NewYork Times #1 bestseller. I think i give this book 4 out of 5 stars.. Haha. but nway, people might think that this book is a romance book, hence it's title. But not really. The mood is suspenseful and thrilling as it tells about how the husband find a way to get back his wife after being ransomed for 2 millions dollars. Huhu. Not bad. I'm looking forward to read this kind of book in the nearest time.

Discover US Education @ Mid Valley - the end -

I came late to this event because the day before i had my reunion and slept late. I woke up around 9.30 am. The event started at 8 a.m See!! how Melayu i was.. I took my shower and headed to mid valley. Luckily, i knew the direction. I think if there's someone in my car at that time I'm pretty sure they would feel nauseous or spit up, driving around 130 -150 km/h. Haha pretty fast and furious. But anyway.. I'm a good driver. I arrived safely at around 10.15 am. I changed my shirt and wore RIT favorite color, orange.

There were tons of people and many of them came to our booth asking about RIT, Life in the US, requirements, examinations and lots more. Some of them asked about something that i don't know like graduate and postgraduate programs offered in RIT and what are the requirements. Huh!! Also.. there were lots of Biotechnology major students came to our booth especially the newly intake ATU 14 students and i was so tired explaining the same things to them.. haha.

I left the booth around 2.30 pm after i got a message from my dearest that she couldn't come due to heavy rains. I went to take her at her college.. huhuhu...

Form 5 (batch 2004) Reunion @ SMAPK

The reunion was held at my former high school, Federal Islamic School of Kajang ( Sekolah menengah agama persekutuan kajang). Actually our plan was to organize a program with the juniors about their pathways after SPM. We took the opportunity to hold the gathering and the program at the same time. We're so upset to see that there were only 18 students came to the event. What the ****!! More Faci than the students. But, anyway we continue the program with a little frustration. I met some of my friends that i haven't met since we finished our SPM 2004. Some of them came from Egypt,US, and some of them are getting ready to fly. Haha. The reunion was superb. We gathered at my friend's house. I arrive a little too late because i sent my girlfriend back to her college. huhu. We ate nasi ayam and satey. woo.. Then we took some pictures and went to play Futsal from 12.30 to 2.30 am. Hahaha. I was so tired and went back sleep at around 5.30 am. I was really tired but you know.. it was really fun and happening. I woke up late the next day and rushing to attend Discover US education @ Mid Valley. huh!!.. emm. I wish that i could meet you guys again and good luck to everyone!!

Discover U.S. Education - KL '07 will be organized in Kuala Lumpur in July 2007. It will be held at the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre (MVEC) on 22nd July 2007 (Sunday) 10am to 6pm. Admission is FREE! The primary objective of the event is to enable students to better plan and make informed decisions prior to furthering their studies at U.S. universities and colleges. This event is rebranded from Experiences 2006 Kuala Lumpur to better reflect the objective of the event.

Why you SHOULD go there?
Discover U.S. Education - KL '07 is designed to provide an educational platform for prospective students of U.S. universities and colleges to further obtain help in planning and making informed decisions prior to furthering their studies at U.S. universities and colleges. The facilitators will share with the students the do's and don'ts of U.S. Universities applications.

What it has to do with me?
On behalf of my university , Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), I'm volunteering to become a facilitator to promote my university and help the Malaysians about anything related to my university and US. I came back to Malaysia for summer holiday and the time of this event is just perfect. Most of the Malaysian students in RIT are majoring in Biotechnology and for those who are interested in this major feel free to come to our booth. @Kamal House

Last Monday, I went to Kamal house aka budak hidong beso at Selayang. It's been a long time since we last met.. almost a year. He picked me up at Sogo and then we headed to his kondo at warta baru. I met his parent and fortunately they still recognize me. "No different!!" his mother said as i entered the house.. Yes I am. I am still awet muda. huahua. We did a lot of crazy stuff - swimming, playing tennis though i'm not good in tennis.. one thing i love about his house was the big 42 inch lcd tv.. haha..and of course the height and the beautiful scenery of the 17-storey kondo.
We went to watch a movie at Summit Square (if i'm not mistaken), Transformers the first day it's released. It was a really really good movie.. bes nak mampos...

After almost a week, i came back home. I was so happy that his father gave me RM 50 hahaha and used that money along with my savings to buy a nike futsal shoe... huahuahuahua. Now i have a complete set of futsal nike accessories and ready to challenge anyone..

iWish iCould Stay Longer!!

Finally!! after one year studying in the states, i'm back, i'm home, i'm here in Tanah Tumpah darahku, Malaysia. (Stakat ni takde tumpah lagi darah aku. haha). It has been almost 4 weeks since i arrived from the US and now I'm staying at my teratak buruk which is located at the world's most peaceful town, Megalopolis Muar...
There's a couple of reason i wanted to go back to Malaysia. First, because of the delicious Malaysian foods that keep popping up in my mind when i was in Rochester. And most of the time i was controlling my guts from having ayam katok and all sort of meats that were not halal. Second, of course to meet my beloved one.
I hope i could enjoy every seconds, every moments while I'm still here, doing fun stuff, shopping, meeting my old buddies, and the most important thing is eating every halal Malaysian foods. HaHaHa.. Sayonara. Konbanwa!!

Hello World!!.. Haha. I'm back. This is my first post so there's nothing much to say. Just wanna say that this is my first trial of creating a blog and also my first step in mastering the world of website publishing. There are a lot of things that i have to learn and explore. I've done this before but it was just a basic. Erm.. My first thought of having a blog is just a nuisance thing and it's like a promoting urself in the internet. But, that's not what i'm gonna do and i'm not promoting myself to anybody. I do this just for fun and as a trial of creating my own website soon. Plus, i can write down what is happening in my daily life and share it with other people, though it's kinda boring to read my posting here.. Hahaha.. So, Let's see what i can do in this blog..
